Despite the heavy snowstorm cutting their trip short, Anime Club made the most out of their day at Anime Boston took their first trip on Sunday, April 3.

“I thought the event was a great experience for everyone that went and brought the club closer as friends,” said Ron Morrissey, SGA Representative of Anime Club.

The event takes place over three days every year.

Anime Boston took place at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston. It is one of the biggest conventions on the East Coast, taking up all three floors of the convention center.  Almost all attendants to the event were dressed up as their favorite anime or video game characters. Popular characters this year were Team Skull from Pokemon Sun and Moon, and Link from The Legend of Zelda series.

Molly Cowan, Vice President of Anime Club, who cosplayed as Chat Noir from Miraculous Ladybug said, “Anime Boston was a lot of fun and I plan to go next year and go for more than one day.”

The event held many panels and events such as Super Smash Brothers Brawl tournament, Anime Chess, and Karaoke. Several manga writers including the creator of a popular anime, One Punch Man, attended. One room was dedicated to video games where games like Dance Revolution, Guitar Hero, Super Smash Brothers, and Street Fighter were played competitively.

There were at least 50 vendors for anime merchandise that filled two rooms supplying items such as plushies, manga, figurines, shirts, posters, and much more.

Several other members of the club described their experience as one of the best events their club has done and hope to do it again as an annual event for the club. They hope to open the event up to more students next year.
