Newsbrief: Turkey fires 4,000 officials, blocks Wikipedia from servers

The government of Turkey fired 3,974 civil servants and have shut down 45 health clinics and civil society groups on Sunday, April 30, according to The New York Times.

Prior to this, the Turkish police detained over 1,000 people and questioning approximately 9,000 more because they’re being accused of having ties to a United States founded Islamic group.

The country also blocked Wikipedia from their internet servers, becauseĀ of the site refusing to remove content the government found “offensive”.
